  • The park is also an excellent example of a New Deal landscape, typifying CCC design and construction.
  • Lake Walcott State Park was named after Charles D. Walcott, who was the third director of the U.S. Geological Survey.
  • In 1906 the Bureau of Reclamation created the lake when it completed Minidoka Dam, an 86 ft high earth fill dam.
  • The Civilian Conservation Corp established a camp in 1933, responsible for many of the rock walls still visible around the park.
